Analog Adventures: Shaping Sound FX with a Korg Volca and a KO P033

With lots of music production centred around a computer nowadays there is something nice about getting hands on with something physical with some buttons to press and nobs to turn. A sound that isn't so crystal clear and is slightly warm and fuzzy.

May be a touch of nostalgia but I feel more of a sense of achievement if I've used various kinds of equipment to create something hopefully more unique sounding.

Yoke were asked to create an animated logo Ident with sound to place at the beginning and end of there verse meets series .Verse is a marketplace for the world’s best contemporary art NFTs. The series to go out on all their socials and website has some of the worlds leading artists featured. I had the pleasure of creating the sound for the verse animated ident.

I knew I needed something subtle, understated and very cool. It needed to be a suitable intro to all sorts of amazing unique artists who were stylistically completely different.

To start I used the korg Vulca kick to get a bass like pulse . I then run it through the KO pocket operator to crush the sound down further and manipulate the timing.

From this point admittedly it when into my computer where in my DAW Logic Pro X shaped the sound further and gave the end a breathy reverb tail.

We then placed the Audio onto to fantastic Animated logo that Maddy had already created and it was ready to go!
