Men's Mental Health Matters: A Collaborative Journey with Kinmel Bay FC & Conwy Mind

Back in October, tragedy struck Kinmel Bay Mens FC as a dear friend sadly took their own life. In response, the team and management were determined to raise awareness about the importance of men seeking help and talking openly about mental health. They turned to Conwy Mind for resources and support. After discussions, Conwy Mind and Kinmel Bay FC decided to create a video aimed at dispelling the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and encouraging dialogue.

Nikki from Conwy Mind reached out to Yoke, sharing Kinmel Bay FC’s story and their vision for the video. Yoke had previously collaborated with Conwy Mind on a project promoting mental health awareness, It was an honour to be asked by them to do another video, especially with it being such an important subject.

Kinmel Bay FC’s story really touched us, and we wanted to help them make a film that would really get the message across of how important it is for men to talk, and how we still need to get rid of the stigma attached to mental health.

Filming took place at Kinmel Bay FC’s training ground, though weather challenges initially postponed the shoot. Despite setbacks, the team persevered, capturing powerful footage on a calm, dry night. The players embraced the project wholeheartedly, delivering their lines with passion and authenticity.

Upon completion of editing and sound design, the video was shared across various social media platforms. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with the message resonating widely and sparking meaningful conversations.
