A promotional video for Conwy Mind
‘Conwy mind - raising awareness’
Conwy Mind are an independent charity who are affiliated with the national Mind association as part of the local Mind federation. They do an incredible job of supporting people in the community with their mental health. They generate their own funding, deliver their own services, increase awareness across the borough of Conwy in North Wales.
It was an honour for Yoke to make this short film to promote Conwy Mind. The brief was to capture the spirit and the message of the work they do at Conwy Mind in a short film, roughly 3 and a half minutes long. This was for use on their social media channels and the Conwy Mind website.

How we went about making the promotional film for mind
To Kick things off- Nikki Conwy Minds fundraising officer sent over some key statements she wanted read out in the video, along with some staged shot ideas that they had.
We then decided to write a series of questions that we would ask the team at Conwy Mind to pull out their story and get a spontaneous and natural response. We then went on to making a story board with all the different shots we wanted to get their message across. These would be a combination of scenes at a one day shoot in the Conwy Mind Headquarters in Abergele with the team, and a day filming around the North Wales to add some context from what what was being said and give more meaning.
The Filming day in the Mind Offices in Abergele went fantastically, and the whole team played their part. Nikki did a great job of presenting the main messaging, we then went on to ask a few members of the team our questions. These worked really well and the passion and dedication of the mind staff really came across beautifully.
We also filmed lots of other cut-away shots to give the film atmosphere and depth. The day after we travelled around the North Wales coast to gather the remaining shots we needed. One of these scenes included an appearance from the local cold water swimmers ‘The Bay Blue Bits’ as an example of a great way to look after your mental health!
It was then onto to task of editing all the story rich material we had. After editing the main storyline together an original music soundtrack was composed to lift and follow the emotion in the all the right places. We also designed some branded motion graphics to illustrate all the main points that needed highlighting.
It was such a satisfying promotional video to make with it being in our eyes an important charity to raise awareness for. The team at Conwy mind were over the moon with the result too!
